Here is some common terminology used with the TreeKeeper system.

Layers	How different data is displayed in TreeKeeper. There are a few key types.

Aerial

As a base layer, we can configure an .SID aerial imagery file for use in TreeKeeper. If you do not have aerial imagery, there are a couple of preloaded satellite base layers.

Data Layer / Facility	Editable layers containing data of your inventory. Represented by the points on the map that are managed in the TreeKeeper system. Traditionally, these are broken down into Street Trees, Private Trees, or Park Trees, but can be any type of asset you’d like to manage and track.
Reference Layer / Basemap / Shapefile	These are

external

non-editable files hosted in Davey mapping servers that visually display

visually different items of

data such as city limits, parcels, centerlines, park boundaries

Base Layer	The map that is displayed underneath all of your reference layers and data

. This can be a custom configured aerial or one of the default maps that comes with TreeKeeper.

Data Layer / Facility

The different icons that contain data on each site on the map managed by the TreeKeeper system. Traditionally, these are broken down into Street Trees, Private Trees, or Park Trees, but can be any type of asset you’d like to manage and track.

External

These layers are special in that Davey is not the host of the data but rather consumes a hosted service in order to represent that information in TreeKeeper.

WFS

WFS, or Web Feature Service is a hosted layer, either by the client or Davey,

Other Commonly Used Words
Archive	A way to record what information was present in a site before it was changed. This allows

Attribute	Specific information about each individual site. This often includes species, condition, DBH, etc.
Field	When searching for or entering in data, any box that you can enter data into may be referred to as a field.

Site ID	The unique number assigned to each different site in TreeKeeper. This is viewable and searchable from the front end.
Remote ID

TRAQ

Work Record

Work Order

a server called GeoServer and can be customized by reaching out to TreeKeeper Support.
Transfer Values	Values that, when set up, will automatically fill in information of a new site as it is created.
TRAQ	ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification. The risk attributes for each site to be assessed by someone who is TRAQ certified.
Work Record	A single record containing the details of work that has already been done or needs to be done.
Work Order	A collection of work records.
