Every user account in TreeKeeper (including the guest account) will have several settings to configure allowing access to system features and setting user preferences.
System Settings
First, we’ll start off with system-wide user settings:
These are top-level settings and will override any layer-specific settings referenced further below.
If a user cannot access any expected data on the map or in the Search Panel, chances are their Layer Access Rights need adjusted, which is located just below Security Level.
Security Levels
First and foremost is setting the system-wide security level, which can be selected from a list as shown below.
Each of the different security levels are listed below, with the special Contractor level defined in the right-hand panel.
Guest
The guest account is the default view of the TreeKeeper system when a user has not logged in. This ‘user’ has no ability to edit inventory data and has restrictions on what data and layers are available to be viewed.
By default guests are only able to see the sites layer, boundary or city limits layer, and the parks layer if there is one. The only attributes they have access to are site ID, address information, species, DBH, height, and possible other geographic information like Park Name.
To configure what fields and layers are available to guests, please contact TreeKeeper Support.
Read Only
Like a guest level, the Read-Only level does not provide a user with the ability to edit data. However, it does allow the viewing of all available data, including more sensitive fields like Condition and Risk.
Edit
An edit level user has the ability to edit nearly every attribute. The only significant difference between an edit and an administrative user is that the edit level user does not have access to the Administration Center.
Administrator
The administrative level not only has the ability to edit inventory data, but also manages several additional aspects of the TreeKeeper system. They have the ability to add, edit, and remove values from list-type fields, as well as adding, editing, or removing users. All of this is done through the Administration Center. Administrative level accounts additionally have the authorization to request changes to the TreeKeeper system from TreeKeeper Support.
Contractor
The Contractor is a unique user account-type permitted to edit only work records assigned to their crew(s).
A Contractor can be assigned crew(s) via the Admin Center’s User Management account edit form.
Contractor accounts can also be limited as to which work record attributes they can edit or view via the Admin Center’s Permissions Management section.
In order for the contractor to be able to edit work records, the Access Rights for the layer must be set to “Edit” as shown below
A Contractor account can be configured to disallow site edits. However, a Contractor can be assigned Rules that can be applied to sites. This allows an Administrator to fully control exactly what a Contractor can or cannot edit at both the site and work record level!
Layer Access Rights
This section allows you to set access rights and privileges to each data layer individually.
Access Rights
Rights for each layer can be set to a few different levels. These levels include:
No Rights - User will not be able to see this data layer or access the information.
Read Only - User will only be able to view sites in this data layer.
Edit - User will be able to view and edit sites in this data layer.
Layer User Privileges
Once you have set the access rights for each layer you have a few additional privileges to set.

Groups
The Groups section is a convenient place for administrators to be able to see which Users belong to which Groups, and which Groups have access to specific Rules, Reports, Quick Filters etc.
While some group assignments can be set for users here by clicking the “Member” checkbox as seen in the right-hand panel, more in-depth assignments can be made in the Group Management section of the Admin Center.
