Content Panel
The Content Panel has five tabs. This section will describe each one as they relate to the user experience.Â
Â
Tool Overview:Â
This tab is a written narrative of key findings from the canopy study. For instance, the overall percentage of canopy within a community or the loss/gain of canopy over time.
Observe:Â
The Observe tab will allow users to specify a layer to view in the Map Frame, which is usually symbolized by current canopy percentage. All layers that were included in the study will be available to view. In addition, there is also a quick filter that shows location features in the layer that are above, below, or at the community average. This tab gives users the ability to explore the results of the canopy study as they currently are today.
Prioritize:Â
The Prioritize tab is a main function of the application. To interact with this tab, users will navigate through different prioritization criteria in order to find the best places to plant new trees. With many data criteria available, this function will yield results based on user preferences. It is possible to not include a variable or include them all. You can even apply a Low or High weight to each variable for further refinement. To use this application, select a layer and move sliders to determine a prioritization.Â
Plant:
The Plant tab allows users to project future canopy goals as well as forecasting of resources such as number of trees required and funding. Users start by selecting the layer they wish to use and then walk through the inputs for goal percentage, costs, tree sizes, mortality, and a specified number of years to reach the goal.
Report:
The Report tab is a summary dashboard based on the inputs of the Plant tab. It will show the number of trees required, new canopy percentage projections, tree acres added, and iTree benefits. This is active only if the Plant Tab has specified inputs.
