In the v2024.10.08 release of TreeKeeper, users will notice some major visual updates!

To help answer some questions users may have, see TreeKeeper New Map FAQ.

What is Changing?

New Color Scheme

We are updating TreeKeeper’s color palette to match Davey’s green.

Along with the new color scheme, we have updated many buttons and icons within TreeKeeper!

New Map Interface

Base Layer Selection

The Google Street, Google Satellite, and Open Street Map options are now located ON the map in the top-right corner.

For Google Street (Map), you can enable or disable Terrain.

For Google Satellite (Satellite), you can enable Labels for Streets, Buildings, and other map objects.

Layer Navigation

The new layer navigation allows users to customize their layer list!

Hiding Layers

Clicking on the “eye” icon for a layer will toggle its visibility:

LayerOn.png - Layer is on; displaying features on the map.
LayerOff.png - Layer is off; not displaying features on the map.

Reordering Layers

Users can now change the order of their layers on the fly! To reorder layers:

  1. Click the “Locked” icon LockedLayers.png to unlock your layer list.

  2. With the drag indicator LayerDragIndicator.png, drag and drop layers where you would like.

  3. When finished, click the “Unlocked” icon UnlockedLayers.png to lock your layer list again.

The order is reflected on the map, so layers at the top will display on top of any active layers below it. Because of that, we suggest having Selected Layers on top of Data Layers on top of Reference Layers.

Setting Layers to Inactive

Users can now deactivate layers, which moves them out of the Active Layers section and into the Inactive Layers section. This is helpful for larger systems that have different teams working on different data/features. To set layers to inactive:

  1. Click the “Locked” icon LockedLayers.png to unlock your layer list.

  2. Deactivate/Activate layer

    • Deactivate: In Active Layers, click the “Remove” icon RemoveLayer.png next to the layer you want to deactivate.

    • Activate: In Inactive Layers, click the “Add” icon ReactivateLayer.png next to the layer you want to activate.

  3. When finished, click the “Unlocked” icon UnlockedLayers.png to lock your layer list again.

Inactive Layers

Inactive Layers are separated into 3 different groups:

  • image-20241008-152033.png are used to highlight sites that are available in the data grid. Sites can be selected from map tools or searches.

  • image-20241008-152107.png are all the data-based layers in the system that you can add points/lines/polygons to.

  • image-20241008-152130.png are commonly shapefiles storing information that doesn’t change often, like City Limits or Wards.
