Overview
Data Transfer Utilities, located in the sidebar of TreeKeeper, provides data download options, a Photo Review tool, and the Import / Update tool.
Info |
---|
This feature can only be accessed by users having the proper Upload/Download Data permissions configured in their user account. Please contact an Admin in your system if you’d like to request access to this feature. |
Data Downloads
After opening the Data Transfer tool, you can select which file type you prefer. This opens another form where you can select the specific data layer(s) you would like to download.
Downloading a Shapefile or Excel file only allows you to download one layer at a time, which can be started by simply clicking on the layer name.
Downloading an Access file allows you to select multiple layers. To do so, click the check-box next to the layer(s) you want included in the Access download, then click ‘Submit’.
Downloading Selected Sites
To download a specific set of sites in Shapefile, Access or Excel format, start by selecting the sites you would like to download by running a search or quick filter, Showing Checkmarked Sites in a report, or using a map tool. Once the desired sites have been selected, open Data Transfer Utilities, choose your preferred file type, and you should see two choices just above the data layers. Those options allow you to choose between ‘Entire Layer’ or ‘Map Selected’.
Choosing ‘Map Selected’ then clicking on the layer name will download a file containing only the sites you had selected on the map.
Info |
---|
The resulting downloads will include all attributes in the system and will show the attribute’s Interface Name rather than the Display Name. If you would rather choose which attributes will be in the download and/or have the Display Name in the download, we recommend customizing the Data Grid and exporting the data through the Data Grid. |
Photo Review
The Photo Review tool is a way to view all uploaded photos in your TreeKeeper system. After clicking on Photo Review in Data Transfer Utilities,
you will then have to specify the sites you want to view the photos for and decide if you want to view deleted photos as well.
Map Selected: this will run a search on the sites you have currently selected on the map. This feature is good to pair with a map search, quick filter, map selection by area, etc.
Custom Search: a form where you can add some criteria. This can be used to filter the data down and only show photos belonging to the sites that match the chosen criteria.

If you want to see all of the photos in the system, just choose the data layer(s) in the ‘Facilities’ criteria box. |
After specifying the criteria, click ‘Submit’ at the bottom of the form and the photos will be displayed. See the next section for some of the functions you have access to on this screen.

In order to use any of those functions, you must have one or more photos selected. To select a photo, click the check-box in the top-right corner of the photo. This will turn the box surrounding the photo green, indicating that it is selected.
Import/Update
TreeKeeper also allows you to import or update data. When you select ‘Import/Update’ you will be asked to select an external data source and then you will be prompted to select the file containing the data from a location on your device. To learn more about the Import/Update feature, see the following documentation: Import/Update Inventory with an Excel file.
Rover Utilities
If there is an ongoing Rover collection in your TreeKeeper system, you may see three additional features in Data Transfer Utilities. Those features (Create Subscriptions, Manage Subscriptions, and API Logs) are utilities to help with Rover. If you do not see these, that means Rover is not currently enabled on your TreeKeeper, which is expected as nearly all TreeKeeper systems are delivered with Rover disabled.
