In the species list management, we can add, edit, or remove species values from the list we use for site information. When adding a new value, we’ll be asked to fill out some other fields as well.
Botanical / Common Names
Here we’ll add the value that we’ll see on the front end when dealing with site information. The actual values do not have to be a tree but can be a shrub, or a nonliving object. If that is the case, we’ll make note of in a field below.
URL
This field is optional, but filling it out will provide a link in the site information window to the URL provided here for all sites with that species value.
Is A Tree?
This field is important for tree benefits to understand if it should attempt to calculate benefits for the value.
Is A Palm?
Tree Benefits calculate a bit differently for palm trees, so it’s important to note if it is or not.
Rating
Presently does nothing. >> Tree Valuations
TreeBenefits.com Species Assignment
This is important, as it is the value that the tree will be calculated as by iTree.
Show Gold Medal?
This option will allow the species to be seen in the Gold Medal layer if any sites with it have outstanding benefits.

Deleting a Species
To delete a species just select the “x” in the actions column. If the species is currently in use you will be prompted to pick a different species to reassign those sites to.
Editing a Species
To edit a species just select the Edit button next to the “x” in the actions column. You will see a page similar to the page shown when adding a species so refer to the steps above for help.
