Adding a Species
To add a new species, click the “+” icon located at the end of the species list

When adding a new value, we’ll be asked to fill out some fields. button located below the species list. You will then be presented with a form where you have some fields to fill out.

Botanical / Common Names
Here we’ll add This is the information that identifies the species identifying name information. The values do not necessarily need to represent a tree but . They can also be a shrub or even a nonliving object such as a vacant planting site or , park bench, or another asset. Either way, these are all required fields. See the image to the right above for an example of adding a red maple to your list.

Type
This will designate designates what type of value you’re species you are adding. You’ll You will choose from one of the following list (: Tree, Palm, Shrub, Other, Stump, Vacant, Obsolete). While most of these values are self-explanatory, “Other” would represent a non-tree value such as if you added “Park Bench”, while “Obsolete” should be chosen for retired vacant sites in which you’d like to retain historical information, but do not want to plant a tree in the future.

TreeKeeper’s default style for your data layer uses tree type to determine the color of the sites.
i-Tree Eco Species

This is requred, as the iTree Eco species you choose from the list will be used in your iTree Eco Benefit calculations (will soon replace the iTree Streets calculations currently available.
Show Gold Medal?
This option will allow the species to be seen in the Gold Medal layer.

If Tree, Palm, or Shrub are chosen for Tree Type, this field will appear. The species chosen here determines what species is used in the i-Tree Eco Benefits calculation for any site assigned this species.

Values entered here are used to calculate estimated tree valuations. Deleting a Species
To delete a species just select the “x” , click the “X” in the Actions column next to the species you want to delete. If the species is currently in use, you will be prompted to pick a different species to reassign those sites to.
Editing a Species
To edit a species just select , click the Edit button next to the “x” in the Actions column. You will see a page similar to the page shown when adding a species so refer to the steps above for help.
