Overview

Since TreeKeeper manages an archival history and records of work performed based on site location and not by tree, we’ve outlined a recommended life cycle of a site.

This recommended life cycle will allow you to keep track of previous changes to each site as well as what maintenance may need performed next. The recommended life cycle can be seen below.

  1. An inventoried tree site will have its species recorded.

  2. When a tree needs to be removed, create a removal work record for scheduling and documenting its removal.

  3. Once the tree is removed, mark the removal work record as completed and update the species at the site level to “Stump”. A Stump Removal work record is then created and scheduled.

  4. Once the stump is removed, mark the Stump Removal work record as completed and update the species at the site level to “Vacant Site”. A planting work record is then created if a new tree will be planted.

    1. If you don’t want a tree planted in the same location but want to keep the history of the site, you may want to update the species at the site level to something like “Vacant site - retired” and the life cycle would be complete.

  5. If a new tree is planted, the Planting work record will be marked as completed and the species at the site level is changed from “Vacant Site” to the species of the tree that was planted. A work record can then be created to inspect the young tree for its needs.

After step five the cycle starts again. All the previous iterations of the site and work performed will be available by viewing the archives and the work records for each individual site.
