Life Cycle of a Tree Site
Since TreeKeeper stores work records and archive information per site location and not per tree, we’ve outlined the recommended life cycle of a site to help you get the most out of TreeKeeper.
The recommended life cycle outlined below will allow you to document changes to a site as well as plan what maintenance needs to be performed next at that location.
An inventoried tree site will have its species and other information recorded. The site then becomes a tree.
When a tree needs to be removed, create a removal work record to schedule and document its removal.
Once the tree is removed, mark the removal work record as completed and update the species at the site level to “Stump”. A Stump Removal work record is then created and scheduled.
Once the stump is removed, mark the Stump Removal work record as completed and update the species at the site level to “Vacant Site”.
If a new tree is to be planted at that location, a Planting work record is then created.
If a new tree is not to be planted in the same location but want to keep the history of the site, you can update the species at the site level to “Vacant site retired” or an equivalent species. The life cycle would be complete.
If a new tree is planted, the Planting work record will be marked as completed and the species at the site level is changed from “Vacant Site” to the species of the tree that was planted. A work record can then be created for any maintenance needed to care for the young tree.
After step five the cycle starts again. All the previous iterations of the site and work performed will be available by viewing the Archives and the Work Records for each individual site.
