Adding a Site

Overview

To add a site into you TreeKeeper system, whether it’s a point, line, or polygon, begin by logging in and selecting Map Tools from the sidebar. If you have the appropriate user permissions, you’ll find options to add a site under Add Tools. Please note that the type of Add Site option (point, line, or polygon) will be determined by the type of data layers that are configured in your TreeKeeper system and your permissions per individual data layer.

Only users with Edit or Admin rights as well as the appropriate per-layer permissions will be able to add sites.

Types of Add Tools

As mentioned above, the type of data layer will determine what type of site can be added. See below for details on how each data type is added:

Point

Either of the following:

  • Single-click to drop the point. This then allows you to click and drag the point to fine-tune the location before single-clicking the point to finalize its location.

  • Hover the icon over the site location and double-click to finalize the point placement.

Line

Single-click to add a point. As you go, you will see the line will connect the points, allowing you to make complex lines that make turns and go around corners. Double-click to finalize the line.

Polygon

Single-click to add vertices to the polygon. As you add more vertices, you will see the polygon begin to take form. Double-click to finalize the polygon.

Add Site Form

After finalizing the site placement, the edit form will open allowing you to fill out information for the site. There are several sections within this form:

A – Data Layer

This allows you to select which data layer you are adding the site to. If only one layer is configured or allowed in the system, there will only be one option.

B – Inset Map

A small, interactive map with Google Satellite imagery that is available to review the site location, surrounding sites, and the features from reference layer that Transfer Values are pulling data from.

C – Transfer Groups

If Transfer Values have been configured, each Transfer Group will displayed here. The features supplying the data will also be highlighted within the Inset Map.

D – Load Last

If you have previously viewed a site, the site data for that site will be cached for Load Last. When the Load Last button is clicked, attributes with Load Last enabled will be populated with the data that was cached from the previously viewed site. Please contact TreeKeeper Support if you would like adjustments made to which attributes will Load Last.

E – Rules

If a rule has created, this button will become available. This will be a dropdown that allows you to choose a rule. Choosing a rule will populate the form with any values specified in the rule.

For more information on rules, see Rule Management.

F – Site Information

These collapsible classes are where you will fill out information for the site. All data layers will also have an option for adding a Work Record.

For more information on work records, see Work Overview.
