Data Transfer
Overview
Data Transfer Utilities, located in the sidebar of TreeKeeper, provides data download options, the File Review tool, and the Import / Update tool.
Â
This feature can only be accessed by users having the proper Upload/Download Data permissions configured in their user account. Please contact an Admin in your system if you’d like to request access to this feature.
Data Downloads
After opening the Data Transfer tool, you can select which file type you would like to download data in. This opens another form where you can select the specific data layer(s) you would like to download.
Downloading a Shapefile or Excel file only allows you to download one layer at a time, which can be started by simply clicking on the layer name.
Downloading a Geodatabase file allows you to select multiple layers. To do so, click the check-box next to the layer(s) you want included in the Access download, then click ‘Submit’.
Downloading Selected Sites
To download a specific set of sites in Shapefile, Excel, or Geodatabase format, start by selecting the sites you would like to download by running a search or quick filter, Showing Checkmarked Sites in a report, or using a map tool. Once the desired sites have been selected, open Data Transfer Utilities, choose your preferred file type, and you should see options just above the list of data layers. Those options allow you to choose between Entire Layer or Map Selected for Shapefile and Excel downloads, or Use your selected sites for Geodatabase downloads.
The resulting downloads will include all attributes in the system and will show the attribute’s Interface Name rather than the Display Name. If you would rather choose which attributes will be in the download and/or have the Display Name in the download, we recommend customizing the Data Grid and exporting the data through the Data Grid.
File Review
The File Review tool is a way to view all uploaded files in your TreeKeeper system. After clicking on File Review in Data Transfer Utilities, you will then have to specify the sites you want to view the files for and decide if you want to view deleted files as well.
Map Selected: this will return files for the sites that are currently selected on the map. This feature is good to pair with a search, quick filter, map selection, etc.
Custom Search: a form where you can add some criteria. This can be used to filter down the data and show only files belonging to the sites that match the chosen criteria.
If you want to see all of the files in the system, just choose the data layer(s) in the ‘Facilities’ criteria box.
After specifying the criteria, click ‘Submit’ at the bottom of the form and the files will be displayed. See the next section for some of the functions you have access to on this screen.

File Review Functions
After clicking Submit, you will see a set of buttons at the top of File Review that allow you to perform certain actions on any selected files.
From left to right, the buttons above are:
Rotate Photo Left:Â Rotates selected photo 90 degrees to the left (counterclockwise).
Rotate Photo Right:Â Rotates selected photo 90 degrees to the right (clockwise).
Toggle Guest Access:Â Toggles whether or not a guest can view the selected file.
Note: Even if you use this function on a file, guests will not be able to see it unless guest access for files has been enabled for the TreeKeeper system as a whole.
Download File:Â Downloads the selected file.
Delete File:Â Deletes the selected file.
Restore File:Â Will restore the selected deleted file.
Clear Selection:Â Clears your current selection.
You can also click the ‘View Site’ button beneath a given file to view the site that file is associated with.
In order to use any of the functions described above, you must have one or more files selected. To select a file, click the check-box in the top-right corner of the file preview. This will turn the box surrounding the file green, indicating that it is selected.
Import/Update
TreeKeeper also allows you to import or update data. When you select ‘Import/Update’ you will be asked to select an external data source and then you will be prompted to select the file containing the data from a location on your device. To learn more about the Import/Update feature, see the following documentation: Import/Update Inventory with an Excel file.
Rover Utilities
If there is an ongoing Rover collection in your TreeKeeper system, you may see three additional features in Data Transfer Utilities. Those features (Create Subscriptions, Manage Subscriptions, and API Logs) are utilities to help with Rover. If you do not see these, that means Rover is not currently enabled on your TreeKeeper, which is expected as nearly all TreeKeeper systems are delivered with Rover disabled.
